Promoting Organ Donation One T-shirt at a Time

At Mayan Technologies we are constantly looking for ways to give back to the community and make a difference in the world we live in today. This year, we celebrated 7 successful years as a company, and as proud as we are of our journey, we wanted to associate this milestone with a cause bigger than ourselves and promote a positive impact in our society.

For our anniversary celebration, also known as our Mayanniversary, we felt the need to shed light on the importance of organ donation and the impact of becoming a donor in order to celebrate life. Did you know every 10 minutes another person is added to the organ transplant waiting list? Currently, in the US, there are more than 100,000 men, women, and children waiting for lifesaving organ transplants. Even the largest football stadium in the US could not fit the number of patients on the national transplant waiting list and we all have the power to help.

To promote organ donation awareness, Mayan Technologies designed and offered themed t-shirts to our team members for purchase. All sales proceedings were donated to Donate Life America. Donate Life America is a nonprofit organization leading its national partners and Donate Life State Teams to increase the number of donated organs, eyes, and tissues available to save and heal lives through transplantation while developing a culture where donation is embraced as a fundamental human responsibility.

We want to thank our team for contributing to this cause and doing their part to promote the importance of becoming a donor and encourage those that are not yet donors, to become one. Although there have been advances in medical technology, the demand for organ, eye, and tissue donation still vastly exceeds the number of donors.
