Making a Difference this Holiday Season

The Holiday season is over and with the economic challenges of 2020, we were certain that more families than ever before would need our help. It is no secret that this holiday season was very different from any other, and holiday events and traditions would be significantly impacted due to the global pandemic.

At Mayan Technologies we are constantly looking for ways to make a difference and help our community. Having offices in the U.S, Canada, and Mexico has given us the opportunity to spread our efforts to make this world a better place.

We are proud to collaborate with several foundations that are making a difference every single day such as Alagille Syndrome Alliance, Cystic Fibrosis Canada, Rare Disease Day, and Tiny Superheroes. This year, Mayan Technologies chose to help bring the joy of Christmas to America’s children in need, with the help of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation in the U.S. and the Santa por un Dia (Santa for a Day) program in Mexico. We are also very grateful to the amazing companies and the people who partnered with these foundations and contributed to this noble cause.

Toys for Tots

For those who are not yet familiar, the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is a non-profit, public charity created at the behest of the U.S. Marine Corps in 1991. Since then, this foundation has distributed 584 million toys, and supported 265 million children to date. However, Toys for Tots has been delivering hope since 1947 where it began as the brainchild of Marine Corps Reserve Major Bill Hendricks and his wife, Diane.

The primary goal of Marine Toys for Tots is, through the gift of a new toy, help bring the joy of Christmas and send a message of hope to America's less fortunate children. For more information or if you are looking for ways to get involved, please visit www.toysfortots.org.

This year, the 2020 season started early at Toys for Tots due to COVID-19 and the impact it has had on families and children across the country. The COVID-19 pandemic affected events and celebrations across the country, including religious holidays, and while we thought the donation efforts would dwindle due to COVID-19, we were overjoyed at the amazing efforts of our community that came together and absolutely knocked it out of the park.

The Allen-Fairview Chamber of Commerce was a main location for toy donations, and the number of individuals that walked in every single day to drop of toys was incredible. The toys were overflowing, and multiple boxes were needed to keep up with the number of donated toys.

“The toys are STILL coming in! We are in awe of our Chamber Members and community!”

At Mayan Technologies, we are extremely grateful for the opportunity to help bring the joy of Christmas to families in our community and, of course, we always have a great time doing it. Looking forward to next year!

Santa por un Dia

To conclude this unprecedented journey that has been 2020, Mayan Technologies partnered with El Mediador and participated, for third consecutive year, in the Santa por un Dia (Santa for a Day) program. The Santa por un Día program helps hundreds of underprivileged children have an extra special Christmas. The children that benefit from this program are boys and girls that live in poverty, attend school on a regular basis, and maintain good grades. This helps motivate children to attend school and do better academically throughout the year and therefore decreasing the number of children who abandon their education.

This year, thanks our team’s generosity, we were able to collect more than 70 donation items, and along with the company’s contribution, we helped bring a little joy this holiday season to more than 150 families living in San Judas Tadeo community. Altogether, this program benefited more than 500 families living in underdeveloped communities.

We are proud to have worked with El Mediador yet another year to help reach this year’s annual goal of supporting families in need and bringing happiness and joy families all around.
