Making Superheroes

As a company, we are passionate about giving back to our community. We’ve always had the idea of making a small difference and contributing to the world around us. With that in mind, we launched the Open Heart initiative. Through this initiative, we support different causes throughout the year, from Christmas toy drives to natural disaster relief.

Currently we decided to focus our support on children in need. Mayan Technologies teamed up with Tiny Superheroes, a tiny cape company that empowers children who are fighting an illness or disability. Their mission is to send a cape to children in order to help them feel strong and proud of the qualities that make them unique. The cape also helps recognize just how super these children are, not only to themselves but to everyone around them. Mayan Technologies is honored to be part of this cause and we appreciate the work Tiny Superheroes does to empower children all over the country. As a father of a child with a genetic disorder, I personally understand the hardships that a lot of families go through to help a child strive in a world filled with hospital visits, medications, and uncertainty.

My son is 18 months, and in this short time, he has had so many hospital visits that I’ve honestly lost count. Labs, blood draws, medication, special diet, hospital stays, you name it, and yet he never stops fighting and overcoming, while managing to keep a smile on his face. Quite frankly, at 18 months he is already twice the man that I could ever be. There is no other way to describe it, the little one is a superhero.

As parents, our focus is giving our child the best and happiest life possible, and for a child going through adversity, something as simple as a cape can give them hope. It celebrates who they are, and symbolizes the strength they need to navigate through life, but most importantly, it empowers them and brings a little fun in their life, so why not?

As a company, Mayan Technologies and its employees got together to sponsor capes for these tiny superheroes. In total, 40 capes were sent out to children all over the country. We hope that this effort will bring awareness to the cause and encourage participation, so all superheroes in the Tiny Superheroes’ waiting list can receive the recognition and the cape they deserve.
