Women's History Month 2022

Women’s History Month is a celebration of women’s contributions to history, culture, and society. Every March, Women’s History Month provides an opportunity to honor the generations of trailblazing women who have built the world we live in today, shaped our progress, and strengthened our character as a society.

Throughout history, women have strived and sacrificed for equality in countries around the world. Standing on the shoulders of those who came before us, we share and continue to carry forward the mission of ensuring future generations of women have equal opportunities. But despite the progress being made, women still face systemic barriers and gaps in opportunities and equalities.

At Mayan Technologies, we want to take this occasion to reflect on the achievements of women in all areas, but most importantly, in the Technology industry that has been evolving and becoming more inclusive. Women have gained slow but hard-fought ground in the workplace, however, there is still much to be done. In Skillsoft’s 2021 Women in Tech Report states 94% of women in tech say they are satisfied with their jobs — but they often face a different set of challenges than their male counterparts. Based on this information, the top challenges women face while pursuing a career in tech are:

• Lack of equal pay

• Lack of work-life balance

• Lack of Equity in Opportunities

• Lack of Professional Development

As a company we are focused on providing women with equal growth and training opportunities, and an equitable work culture. We are always searching for ways to improve our culture and empower women in tech. As a tech company, we are committed to advancing gender diversity as the pandemic recedes. Deloitte Global predicts that large global technology firms, on average, will reach nearly 33% overall female representation in their workforces in 2022, up slightly more than 2 percentage points from 2019.

We are extremely proud of the women on our team, of being a company where 50% of our management positions are held by women professionals, and fortunate to have such incredible women help forge a better future in tech. This year, on March 8th, International Women’s Day, and on behalf of the entire team, we delivered a rose and chocolates to each as a token of our appreciation and support.

Meet some of these extraordinary women who make our work possible:

This Women’s History Month, as we reflect on the achievements of women across the centuries and pay tribute to the pioneers who paved the way, we show our support for an equal society and equal quality of life. In doing so, we hope to do our part to help increase the number of women in tech and provide a professional space of equal opportunity.
