Women's History Month 2022

Women’s History Month is a celebration of women’s contributions to history, culture, and society. Every March, Women’s History Month provides an opportunity to honor the generations of trailblazing women who have built the world we live in today, shaped our progress, and strengthened our character as a society.

Throughout history, women have strived and sacrificed for equality in countries around the world. Standing on the shoulders of those who came before us, we share and continue to carry forward the mission of ensuring future generations of women have equal opportunities. But despite the progress being made, women still face systemic barriers and gaps in opportunities and equalities.

At Mayan Technologies, we want to take this occasion to reflect on the achievements of women in all areas, but most importantly, in the Technology industry that has been evolving and becoming more inclusive. Women have gained slow but hard-fought ground in the workplace, however, there is still much to be done. In Skillsoft’s 2021 Women in Tech Report states 94% of women in tech say they are satisfied with their jobs — but they often face a different set of challenges than their male counterparts. Based on this information, the top challenges women face while pursuing a career in tech are:

• Lack of equal pay

• Lack of work-life balance

• Lack of Equity in Opportunities

• Lack of Professional Development

As a company we are focused on providing women with equal growth and training opportunities, and an equitable work culture. We are always searching for ways to improve our culture and empower women in tech. As a tech company, we are committed to advancing gender diversity as the pandemic recedes. Deloitte Global predicts that large global technology firms, on average, will reach nearly 33% overall female representation in their workforces in 2022, up slightly more than 2 percentage points from 2019.

We are extremely proud of the women on our team, of being a company where 50% of our management positions are held by women professionals, and fortunate to have such incredible women help forge a better future in tech. This year, on March 8th, International Women’s Day, and on behalf of the entire team, we delivered a rose and chocolates to each as a token of our appreciation and support.

Meet some of these extraordinary women who make our work possible:

Dora Chavarria is an Enterprise Solutions Manager, Customer Account Manager, and Senior Consultant at Mayan Technologies. Dora has been working with ERP products since 2011. Early in her career and prior to the ERP world, she held finance and management roles, which allowed for first-hand experience. Her main responsibility is maintaining customer satisfaction during and after the delivery of all custom solution products. She works thoroughly with software architects, developers, quality assurance, consultants, and customers to provide the best solution possible. Dora also assists with customer project manager responsibilities.

Viviana has 7+ years of financial consulting experience for different ERPs; her daily activities also include serving as a liaison between the customer's needs and the development team by analyzing and translating the client's business requirements. In her role as Financial Manager, she focuses on the receivables and payable tasks of the company, looking after the corporate’s financial condition.

Ana Francisco is the Business Analyst for Mayan Technologies. She has a bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Business Management. Ana’s daily activities consist of meeting with clients and improving/strengthening businesses through implementation of strategic change as needed. As a business analyst, Ana is responsible for establishing relationships with new and existing clients. Her goal is to ensure that we help them grow with our partnership and guidance.

This Women’s History Month, as we reflect on the achievements of women across the centuries and pay tribute to the pioneers who paved the way, we show our support for an equal society and equal quality of life. In doing so, we hope to do our part to help increase the number of women in tech and provide a professional space of equal opportunity.
